Recenzija CS3 u Affordable Audio 02/2010 - CS3 speakers by Lorin Elias (PDF 594 kB)

"I absolutely love these speakers. They image better than anything I have heard (including floorstanders that retail for $40K), they are relatively easy to drive (95 dB), flexible about placement, and they make most any other speaker sound "lifeless" in comparison."

  CS3 na HIFI vision 2009 - CS3 test i diskusija

Nije profesionalna recenzija, no

"I was able to enjoy all genres of music, none scoring above the other. With most music, it was some of the most impressive renditions I have heard. Classical, choral, female vocals, rock, jazz……. all sounded just fine.

An audiophile told me recently, “if there is just 10 percent improvement in sound, it gets lost in time. If there is more than 30 percent, you remember it always”. This is one of those speakers which does more than the 30 percent. Very impressive."

CS2.3 na The Audio Beat 2009 "RMAF Hot Products"

"The Emerald Physics CS2.3 is is a three-way, biamplified, dipole speaker system that includes a Behringer DCX2496 digital processor, which handles EQ and crossover functions. Its sound is rich, with powerful low frequencies and acute imaging. An upgraded Behringer processor adds room correction to this already feature-packed, and fine-sounding, speaker system.

Robert E. Greene

  CS2 & CS1 na TwoChannel Audio 2008 "RMAF 2008 "

"I have talked with Wally Liederman of Underwood HiFi several times. Wally had previously sent me information on a new speaker he was selling made by Emerald Physics, the CS2. As the speaker’s sales representative, I expected Wally to be enthusiastic about this speaker. What I did not expect was how incredibly good it actually sounded. Wally was not exaggerating.

When I entered the Emerald Physics/Wyred 4 Sound room, I felt right at home sonically. The Emerald Physics CS2 speaker has the same kind of openness, imaging, and sound quality that I adore in my Magneplanars. In addition, it offers much higher efficiency, 100dB for a one Watt input; the ability to sound its best in just about any room thanks to a four-channel DSP-based active crossover; and excellent bass down to a claimed 20Hz! While not inexpensive, this two-way dipole design starts to look like an absolute bargain when compared to the many speakers at the show that cost $30,000 and up and did not sound as good. I was knocked out by this speaker and consider it the most impressive component I heard at the show for its combination of exceptional sound quality and reasonable price.

For the audiophile who feels that the CS2 is not expensive enough to impress his friends, Wally was also showing the larger Emerald Physics CS1. It is slightly more efficient at 102 dB for one Watt and offers bass response down to 15 Hz. Not surprisingly, it sounded absolutely wonderful also."

Recenzija CS2 u Vjesniku 2008/11 "Zvuk 'oslobođen' neželjenih koloracija"
(PDF, za preuzimanje desni klik i "Save target as...")

CS2 - The Absolute Sound Golden Ear Award - 2008/06
"Offering big, ultra-precise, informative sound at an affordable price, the Emerald Physics CS2 represents the wave of the future (a DSP electronic crossover is crucial to the design and bi-amplification is necessary). With dipole bass and mids via two fifteen-inch(!) drivers and a waveguide compression driver for the upper mids and highs, it has dynamic capability to burn and effortless sound, indeed. There are adjustments in the DSP box, and tweaking gain on your amplifiers will enable you to dial-in bass/treble balance even further. Set up just right, the system offers neutral sound, X-marks-the-spot imaging, and extraordinary top-to-bottom transparency. The CS2 is something really special once the balance is dialed in and, at the price, simply stunning." Robert E. Greene

The CS1s sounded exceptionally free of room colorations and the bass was very tight with no evidence of room modes muddying the sound. The midrange was clear, balanced and musical and the CS1s were one of a handful of systems to pass the Marcus Miller test.

What is the Marcus Miller test you ask? I burned a copy of “Cousin John" from Marcus Miller's M2 CD on my show demo disc. Having only heard this disc at home (where it sounds fantastic) I became convinced that the recording quality wasn't nearly what I remembered it to be. It sounded so thick and muddy compared to the articulate guitar and vocal tracks most manufacturers were using to demo their gear. It wasn't until I heard it on a handful of systems (the CS1s included) that I realized that lesser systems can't articulate the dense, prodigious bass on this track making it sound congested and thick and the midrange muddy and indistinct. Only a top flight system can reproduce this track properly. Thus I dubbed it the Marcus Miller test and now use it to make my friends cry when I play it on their systems.

Needless to say I was very impressed with the CS1s and I wouldn't mind spending some time with a pair in my own listening room. At the price, they are a lot of speaker for the money.

CS1 Nemesis na Positive Feedback 2007 - "CES 2007 report"

Clayton Shaw from Emerald Physics was exhibiting the Nemesis CS1 DSP-controlled dipolar loudspeaker. This 100dB tri-amped loudspeaker had a quality of transparency that I hardly heard in any other room in the show. Its neodymium compression tweeter handled sibilants well, with no splash.

"U audio biznisu sam preko 30 godina. Nije me lako impresionirati, a kamoli šokirati. E pa smatrajte me šokiranim.

Wow! I do know what I like, and I know what sounds good. I have been into this stuff since the days of build it your self “Hafler Amps.” The reason that we pay musicians millions is because they can create a story, bring back a memory, or paint a picture with words or just a musical note. It something that moves the soul.

Well I have found a system that plays music the way the musician intended it to be played. This system does something that only the super exotic systems can do; it brings emotion in to sound. It doesn’t play jazz it puts you in the left center table of the club. It doesn’t Play a Hip Hop it takes you to the Hood, it doesn’t play Opera it transports you to Carnage Hall. You see we have been so used to listening to equipment and a few boxes. But rarely does a system play emotion, I mean were you can feel it in your soul, and you just say Wow that really sounds good. Now if you need to tweak gear, and play with this cable, and take music from digital to analog Yadi Yaa… Then this may not be for you. But if you love music simply for the music, You owe it to your self to listen. And hear what these symphonic geniuses wanted you to.

I usually do not post frequently but upon receiving my CS2's and hearing them, I just had to express just how good these speakers are. I am in my early 60's and have been involved in music my entire life, both professionally and as a way of life. I feel these will be regarded as a major step forward in speaker design. The CS2's only have about 30 plus hours on them but for the way they sounding now, I can't wait for additional break in. The bottom line...They sound LIVE...Clayton has accomplished
quite a feat. I have a wide range of equipment in several rooms but right now I have modified Cary 300b mono's on top and a Bryston sst on the bottom..but will try others. All I can say is before a purchase of any speaker regardless of price, a listen to the CS2's may save you a significant amount a money.

I felt moved to post a thought or two about my new speakers. Over the years I have owned several speakers including maggie 2.7qr's, altec 604d's, jbl d128's with 075 bullett tweeters, green mountain audio diamontes, james symphony 10's, apogee duetta signatures, etc. The emerald physics, to my ear, are light years ahead of the others. out of the shipping container, they sound awful and take 4-5 hours to begin breaking in. after that, look out! bass is plentiful, tight, and deep. not the subwoofer booming type, rather well articulated bass, but low and controlled. the mids and highs are very exact, and the width and depth of the soundstage are simply amazing!

The CS2's handled anything and everything four seasoned audiophiles could throw at it for over two hours yesterday afternoon. We tried different types of jazz, rock, blues, female vocals, male vocals, large scale orchestra, pipe organ, you name it...we tried it. The CS2 loudspeaker didn't blink, it just kept getting more and more engaging, practically begging us to feed it more and more music.

Lest anybody thinks that the CS2 is all about dynamics and spl's (which they provide in spades), I am happy to say that they were superb at providing texture, nuance, and detail that made listening to them an absolute joy.

Oh yeah, all of this was achieved without any room treatments in the room and without esoteric or super expensive supporting gear in a small hotel room.

I went back to the Emerald Physics room this morning to make sure that it all wasn't some dream and that the speakers were as good as I thought they were. I am happy say that they were just as good as yesterday and none of my opinions were any different from the previous day.

The dynamics, lack of distortion, extreme speed, superb midrange, awesome depth, transient response, and ultimately, the musicality of these Emerald Physics was shocking to say the least, especially at this price point, but even at higher price points. WOW! is an understatement.

I, likewise, attended RMAF.  Of all the rooms I heard, the MBL and Emerald Physics stood out above the rest. I agree the latter, at it's price point, was incredible!  I had created my own demo/test CD, with music I know and love.  The CS2 compared favorably (arguably yielding cleaner detailed bass) vs. my ML Summit setup! My only criticism is the stark black minimalist design has low WAF, but ohhhhh, that sound!

I Heard the CS-2's recently at my local dealer and having heard them..I ordered a pair from Clayton. As a Quad owner and lover ...I took the plunge to go with the CS-2 after hearing them do all the Quads did and much more...

I've had several electrostats (ML CLS's, Quads, Acoustats), as well as original Dalquist DQ-10's (long ago). These (CS2) remind me most of the ESL63's or DQ10's, but with real bass and gusto.

I have no urge whatsoever to put the (Vandersteen) 5A's back into the main system.
The speed, detail, dynamics, and clarity that the CS2's produce is addictive and I just want more!!

The Emerald Physics CS2 combines dipole bass with a high quality waveguide top end using a DSP processor, and is serious competition for some of the finest loudspeakers made. Their combination of openness, naturalness, efficiency, bandwidth and dynamics is unheard of in their price range (and rare at any price). Designer Clayton Shaw is an industry veteran who excels at thinking way, way outside the box - without losing sight of practical matters such as value. His speakers do exactly what I think a speaker should do well, and do it so elegantly that they probably leave most other designers smacking their foreheads wishing they'd thought of it first.

I have the CS2's myself and LOVE them!

I used to own Druids and now own CS2s (had Defs (Zu Definition) in between). Besides the fact that the CS2 hands down is preferable to Druids in pretty much every way (unless you must color your music), it also sounds very good at low levels.... I think.

I say "I think" (obviously only sorta joking) because the CS2 is so easy to crank up that I rarely use it at low volumes. I am fortunate that my family members all love music and fine audio reproduction, so they almost never object.

The CS2 easily better the Druids, as I noted. At least one other member here has also owned Druids and now owns CS2... When comparing the CS2 to the Definition Mk1.5, which costs at least 2.5 x, it is a closer match but due to the CS2 dealing with my difficult room much better I would choose it even at the same price.

I am writing this review for all of the new CS-2 owners . I received my pair of Emerald Physics CS-2's may 27, 08 and they were good, but I knew they needed time to break-in properly. For the first three months I counted the hours I played them. At 250 hours the sound of the music was starting to move away from the speaker and the bass got tighter, at the 500 hour mark the mids/highs started showing off the extraordinary imaging and focusing that I knew the speaker were capable of. After about 700 hours the transparency of the speakers while playing music was just mind-blowing. I also watch movies using the CS-2's and I love the tight bass and the magical high/mid with movie soundtracks. Because of it's transparency I can hear micro details in music and movies soundtracks more that ever before. I stopped counting after the 700 hour mark, because I believe that the
break-in was over, but boy was I wrong! The CS-2's just keep on amazing me with there performance, they keep getting better in all the way that count, bass, mid-bass, treble, transparency, focus, and soundstage. Clayton Shaw has given the
world an audio gift with the Emerald Physics CS-2 speakers and that is no joke.
